Job summary

DLBA Naval Architects, a division of Leidos Gibbs & Cox, seeks a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support US Navy small craft design and lifecycle services. You’ll be embedded with NSWCCD Code 83 and provide on-site engineering for CCD at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.

The role focuses on mechanical systems design, analysis, and testing, using first principles and CAD tools like AutoCAD and Rhino; requires U.S. citizenship and active DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active DoD secret security clearance.
• BS or higher in Mechanical or Marine Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ mechanical engineering experience (non-nuclear).
• Broad knowledge of marine engineering and related technologies.
• Familiarity with BS/RINA/LR/ISO/USCG/ABYC specs.
• Strong time management and ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in CAD software, including AutoCAD and Rhino.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering calculations using first principles and devise approaches to challenges.
• Assist client teams in boat design and provide solutions using established methods.
• Collaborate with teammates to develop small craft design solutions.
• Design propulsion, fuel, ventilation, and hydraulic systems.
• Complete assignments accurately and on time using standard engineering programs.
• Provide onsite mechanical engineering service to US Navy CCD (Code 83) at Little Creek-Fort Story.
