Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. seeks a Counsel to provide legal support for dispute resolution and litigation across the organization.

The role manages a portfolio of claims, works with internal stakeholders and outside counsel to mitigate risk, control costs, and achieve favorable business outcomes. You will handle all phases of litigation, from early case assessment to case management, settlements, and court appearances, collaborating with operations, claims, and business leaders to align legal strategy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in law is required.
• J.D. from an accredited law school is required.
• One year or more litigation experience; law firm experience preferred.
• Active bar membership in good standing upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Manage litigation and dispute matters, including discovery requests and subpoenas, and work with outside counsel to drive efficient resolution.
• Oversee a portfolio of claims, disputes, and litigation matters by monitoring progress, deadlines and budgets.
• Represent Ryder in mediations and settlement discussions, advocating the company’s interests.
• Attend hearings and court proceedings as Ryder’s legal representative where required.
• Support dispute resolution through early case assessment and settlement evaluation.
• Develop and implement litigation strategies to minimize risk and costs.
• Analyze claims, defenses, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements to inform litigation strategy.
