Job summary

The Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP office in Seattle seeks a junior attorney to support senior attorneys in civil litigation. You will interview witnesses, communicate with clients and opposing counsel, and help draft pleadings, discovery, and motions.

Experience with trial preparation and second-chairing is preferred, including handling witness and exhibit disclosures and assisting at trials. For candidates who have worked on EEOC/WSHRC matters, this background is a plus.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and bar admission in WA.
• Experience in civil litigation and trial support.

Job description

Overview

• The firm fosters a supportive environment, allowing junior attorneys to gain experience and take on first-chair responsibilities like depositions or trials when they feel ready, rather than being compelled to do so prematurely.
• The role involves assisting senior attorneys with all aspects of civil litigation, including interviewing witnesses, communicating with clients and opposing counsel, and drafting pleadings, discovery, and motions.
• Experience in preparing for and assisting with trial is required, including drafting witness and exhibit disclosures, motions in limine, preparing witnesses, and second-chairing a trial.
• Preferred experience includes handling charges of discrimination filed with the EEOC and WSHRC, drafting position statements, and responding to administrative agency inquiries.
• The Labor & Employment Practice represents clients nationally across all phases and types of employment litigation, counseling, and training.
