Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Junior Java Engineer to join a cloud‑focused, international team. You will learn from senior engineers, contribute to backend services and microservices, and grow within a Scrum environment.

The role offers a hybrid model with a Kraków client office, and you will work on Java projects with modern cloud technology, RESTful APIs, and CI/CD practices. Excellent communication in English is required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of software development experience or strong junior‑level hands‑on practice.
• Hands‑on experience with Java and RESTful APIs.
• Basic knowledge of object‑oriented programming, Git/version control, and SQL.
• Familiarity with unit testing (JUnit, Mockito) and the software development lifecycle.
• English level B2 with readiness for client‑facing communication.
• Ability to self‑manage tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support the development, testing, and maintenance of backend services and microservices using Java.
• Implement small features and bug fixes under guidance of senior engineers.
• Write clean, readable, maintainable, and well‑tested code following team standards.
• Participate in code reviews as a learner and apply feedback.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with the team.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies (daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives).
• Communicate with stakeholders to clarify requirements and implementation details.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.
