Job summary

Ash Street Interiors is seeking a Junior Designer & Design Assistant with at least three years of interior design experience to join our North Shore studio. The role blends hands-on design work with project coordination and administrative tasks to support high-end residential projects in the Chicago area.

Proficiency in AutoCAD or SketchUp and Studio Designer is a must. The ideal candidate will be organized, collaborative, proactive, and capable of handling a variety of project-related tasks

Qualifications

• Three years interior design experience and ability to work across all project phases.

Responsibilities

• Support residential projects through every phase, from initial client consultation and concept development through installation.
• Prepare accurate furniture plans, elevations, and finish schedules.
• Source furnishings, fabrics, finishes, lighting, and accessories.
• Develop presentation materials, organize samples, and maintain specifications and selection records.
• Request and compare estimates from vendors, workrooms, contractors, and trades.
• Communicate with clients and project partners to keep decisions, details, and schedules moving forward.
• Attend site visits, document project progress, and assist with installations and final styling.
• Prepare proposals, invoices, and purchase orders in Studio Designer; maintain accurate project and purchasing records.
• Assist our Studio Coordinator with order tracking and issue resolutions

Ash Street Interiors is a small luxury residential interior design studio on Chicago's North Shore. We’re expanding and building our team with a variety of creative roles. We're seeking an energetic, collaborative, ready-for-anything Junior Designer & Design Assistant with at least three years of interior design experience. Our small firm manages a roster of large, complex projects, so organization, flexibility, self-direction, and a willingness to take on a variety of project-related roles are essential. Proficiency in AutoCAD or SketchUp and a pro at Studio Designer are a must. This role combines hands-on design work with the coordination and administrative support that bring our projects to life. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable developing a design scheme, sourcing materials, preparing proposals, or coordinating installations and photo shoots. We value people who take initiative, anticipate next steps, and approach both large and small tasks with care. We work hard, care deeply about our projects, and believe a sense of humor and adventure makes our busy studio even better.
