Job summary

BMW Group’s Designworks studio in Santa Monica seeks a Junior Designer for Interaction Design. You’ll contribute to UI flows, prototypes, and design systems within agile teams, mentored by senior designers.

Expect to work on a range of projects, from focused features to broader experiences, with emphasis on usability and AI-powered interfaces. You bring a Bachelor’s in a design field and up to 2 years’ experience, plus familiarity with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and basic web tech.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, HCI, Graphic Design, or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of prior work experience in Interaction/UI/UX Design or equivalent.
• Knowledge of end-to-end design process and research integration.
• Strong design basics: hierarchy, typography, layout, color.
• Experience with AI-powered products or LLM interfaces is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design interaction flows, UI components, and prototypes for digital products with guidance from senior designers.
• Contribute to full design process from concepts to handoff across features and experiences.
• Evaluate concepts against usability, accessibility, and client needs; apply findings to design decisions.
• Work within and contribute to design systems for consistency across components and platforms.
• Collaborate in cross-functional, agile teams and present work to stakeholders.
• Develop skills in scoping, time estimation, and design communication.
• Use AI tools thoughtfully in design workflow and contribute to AI-powered interfaces.
