Job summary

Dee Cramer is hiring a Junior HVAC Estimator to support preconstruction and estimating activities. You will assist with quantity takeoffs, drawing/specification reviews, document management, and collaboration with estimating, engineering, and Virtual Design and Construction teams.

This role is ideal for detail-oriented, technically minded individuals eager to grow in estimating and preconstruction. A professional office environment background and proficiency with Excel are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical drawings and specs.
• Experience in a professional office environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs, and bid documents to identify scope.
• Produce detailed quantity takeoffs for bids.
• Prepare takeoffs for field orders and change requests.
• Assist estimators with bid preparation and development.
• Track bid opportunities and project communications.
• Maintain document control per Dee Cramer standards.
• Support BIM/VDC tasks and collaboration with teams.
• Work with estimating, engineering, and VDC to stay aligned.

Every successful project begins long before construction starts. As a Junior HVAC Estimator, you'll support preconstruction and estimating efforts through quantity takeoffs, drawing and specification review, document management, and collaboration with estimating, engineering, and Virtual Design and Construction teams. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, technically minded, and eager to grow within the estimating and preconstruction profession.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify project scope requirements.
• Producing detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs for new project bids.
• Preparing takeoffs for field orders, bulletins, change requests, and other project modifications when requested.
• Assisting estimators with bid preparation and final bid development.
• Tracking project communications, bid opportunities, and performance metrics through BuildingConnected.
• Maintaining document control processes in accordance with Dee Cramer standards.
• Supporting Design and VDC teams with tasks such as BIM setup, drafting, modeling, HVAC design activities, and related project needs.
• Working closely with estimating, engineering, and VDC teams to promote alignment throughout preconstruction activities.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
• Preparing awarded projects for a smooth transition to operations teams.
• Managing and maintaining historical project tracking records while partnering with Contract Administrators and Project Coordinators to keep information current and accurate.
• Assisting the Balance division with document markups as needed.
• Completing additional assignments and responsibilities as requested.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working in a professional office environment.
• Working proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical drawings, plans, and project specifications.

Preferred qualifications:

• Previous estimating experience.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud and/or Autodesk Forma.
• Experience using Bluebeam, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk MEP Suite, or similar software.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Technical proficiency.
• Motivation to expand knowledge and advance within the estimating profession.
