Hoyle Tanner, based in Manchester, NH, seeks an Entry Level Highway Engineer to join our Ground Transportation Division. You will support design teams on state and municipal highway projects, preparing calculations, plans, and specifications under supervision.

The role emphasizes collaboration, fieldwork, and file management with opportunities to pursue an advanced degree or professional certification. A bachelor’s in civil engineering is required, with MS preferred and EIT/EI encouraged.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering; MS preferred.
• EIT/EI preferred or ability to obtain.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Salary is contingent on experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and preparation of calculations, plans and specifications for State and Municipal Highway projects.
• Complete assignments with direction from the Project Engineer or Project Manager.
• Work as part of an integrated, multi-discipline team to solve technical challenges.
• Use software and other tools to develop designs and organize work.
• Gather, research and maintain engineering records including tests, drawings and field data.
• May attend inspections, site visits and meetings with clients and contractors for highway projects under construction.
• May be responsible for construction observation and limited administration.
• Read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
• Demonstrate strong writing and communication skills.
• Increase knowledge through continuous learning within and outside the organization including pursuit of an advanced engineering degree and/or certification.
