Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Houston Infrastructure Services Group. This role offers the chance to work with seasoned geotechnical engineers on large-scale infrastructure projects across Texas.

You will assist in planning, investigations, design, and field tasks for transportation, water, environmental and municipal projects, gaining hands-on experience while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and building technical expertise for future advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline.
• 1 year of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency contingent on duties.

Responsibilities

• Support geotechnical investigations, subsurface explorations, and field data collection activities.
• Perform analyses and contribute to design of foundations, retaining structures, excavations, embankments, and geo-environmental projects.
• Evaluate geotechnical data and soil/rock properties to support recommendations and design.
• Assist with preparation of geotechnical reports, specifications, calculations, and construction documents.
• Review designs for compliance with requirements and CDM Smith standards.
• Participate in site visits and field observations to verify design assumptions.
