Job summary

CDM Smith in Latham, NY is seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Infrastructure Services Group. You’ll work with experienced geotechnical engineers on a wide range of infrastructure projects across New York and the Northeast.

As part of the Latham team, you will contribute to planning, investigation, analysis, and design of geotechnical solutions for transportation, water, environmental, and municipal projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline.
• 1 year of related experience required or equivalent.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel contingent on duties.

Responsibilities

• Support geotechnical investigations, subsurface explorations, and field data collection activities.
• Perform engineering analyses and contribute to the design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, excavations, and dewatering systems.
• Evaluate geotechnical data and soil/rock properties to support project recommendations and design development.
• Assist with preparation of geotechnical reports, technical specifications, calculations, and construction documents.
• Review designs for compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and CDM Smith standards.
