Job summary

CDM Smith in Denver, CO is seeking a junior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Infrastructure Services Team. You will support designs for excavation, dewatering, foundations, dams, and geo-environmental projects under supervision.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering and at least 1 year of related experience; Master’s is preferred. Domestic or international travel may be required; strong communication and MS Office skills are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline.
• 1 year of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency is contingent on specific duties and project demands.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering – highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, create excavation, dewatering, shallow/deep foundations, dams/reservoirs/levees, geo-environmental projects, etc.
• Support engineering designs of basic to moderate complexity to meet client project requirements.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.
• Update design requirements as necessary.
• Perform soil sampling analyses and modeling.
• Contribute to the firm’s Knowledge Material by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
