Qualifications

geocgi is seeking a Jr. Geospatial Analyst to support our client, Indian Health Service (IHS), within the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Environmental Health and Engineering (OEHE). The candidate will support help desk activities, assist senior GIS staff, and generate utilities data for analysis. A foundational understanding of GIS concepts, formats, systems, and best practices is required. This is a remote position with anticipated travel to Seattle, Washington, as requested by the client.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide first-level technical support to GIS users via telephone and a ticketing system.
  2. Troubleshoot common GIS software, data access, and hardware issues.
  3. Assist senior GIS staff with various projects and tasks.
  4. Create maps, reports, and other cartographic products.
  5. Digitize, edit, and maintain geospatial data layers using ArcGIS Pro.
  6. Ingest AutoCAD and as-built data into ArcGIS Pro for utilities such as water, wastewater, and solid waste.

Minimum Requirements for the Jr. Geospatial Analyst
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography/GIS, Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience with ArcGIS Pro managing geospatial data, creating cartographic products, and performing spatial analysis.
  • Experience collaborating with Project Managers, GIS Analysts, and Specialists to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS, including web maps, apps, dashboards, and surveys.
  • Understanding of enterprise GIS systems and technology.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and initiative.
Desired Capabilities and Experience
  • Experience with data entry and database management.
  • Knowledge of utilities, especially water, wastewater, and solid waste.
  • Familiarity with helpdesk ticketing systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD and as-built data.
