Job summary

AECOM is actively seeking an entry-level Geologist for immediate employment in Westlake Village, CA. You will support the Environmental Business Line, primarily on Federal projects, and collaborate with a global team of professionals.

This role begins ASAP and offers exposure to diverse field and office tasks, including sampling, data interpretation, and report writing. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or related science.
• Valid U.S. driver's license required to visit project sites.
• Candidate must pass motor vehicle records review and a substance abuse test.
• Medical surveillance screening upon hire.
• U.S. citizenship required due to nature of work.

Responsibilities

• Apply standard field practices and use basic field equipment to collect soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment samples; prepare samples for shipping and complete chain-of-custody paperwork.
• Perform supervised field tasks such as soil logging, monitoring well installation, slug testing, and water level/groundwater gradient surveys.
• Gather and interpret chemical and non-chemical data for scientific reports and organize environmental data.
• Prepare basic data and scientific documents; apply natural science knowledge to explain observations.
• Assist senior team members in planning and coordination of field programs.
• Be comfortable with travel; out-of-state travel may be required.
• Balance roughly 50/50 between field and office tasks.
