Job summary

Sysco Detroit is seeking a Fleet Technician Journeyman/Technician to assist in preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors, trailers, and related equipment, ensuring safe, reliable operations and minimizing downtime.

You will learn inspections, diagnostics, and repairs under guidance, document work in SAP, and help ensure DOT compliance while supporting the fleet team across shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 2-year truck technical training.
• No prior experience required with proper education.
• Valid driver's license; CDL-A preferred.
• Knowledge of vehicle systems and components.
• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical systems on equipment.
• Welding and cutting skills (gas, electric, MIG, TIG).
• Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, bend and kneel.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles to maximize safety and reliability.
• Learn to perform maintenance repairs under guidance on engines, transmissions, brakes, HVAC, and related systems.
• Document all work on the work order (SAP) using standard format.
• Develop efficiency in Sysco computer programs and fleet systems.
• Assess roadworthiness and DOT compliance before releasing equipment.
• Collaborate with management to prioritize a fleet maintenance schedule.
