Job summary

Piper Sandler & Co is seeking a motivated Fixed Income Junior Underwriter to support the California municipal underwriting desk in San Francisco. The role develops expertise in municipal finance, primary market execution, credit review, and relationship-driven capital markets.

The ideal candidate has a finance-related bachelor’s degree and around 2 years of relevant experience, with proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Some licensing (Series 52/7) is preferred but not required at hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Mathematics, or related field.
• 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Underwriting Desk Support: assist Senior Underwriter with daily market tracking, new issue execution, and admin tasks.
• Market Advocacy & Communication: express market views, pricing opinions, and transaction recommendations to bankers and external participants.
• New Issue Execution: assist with Ipreo-related tasks, wire proofing, allocation sheets, and coordination with internal teams for accurate execution.
• Credit & Market Analysis: prepare concise credit summaries and monitor market trends to support pricing and positioning.
• Banker & Analyst Coordination: gather market data for RFPs and prepare materials for client discussions.
