Job summary

Dave Steel Company, a Walters Group Company, is seeking a Jr. Fitter/Welder at our Asheville Fabrication Facility for the 2nd shift, Monday to Friday.

You will read fabrication drawings, take precise measurements, and operate carbon air-arc equipment while upholding strict safety standards. Training will cover blueprints, tape measure reading, overhead cranes, health and safety procedures, teamwork, organizational skills, and effective communication to succeed in a collegial yet demanding

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Jr. Fitter/Welder will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Read and follow detailed written instructions and fabrication drawings.
• Perform accurate measurements and calculations using feet, inches, and fractions.
• Operate carbon air-arc equipment for back gouging processes.
• Ensure safe work practices are adhered to, and appropriate PPE is worn at all times.

Training:

• Learn to read and interpret blueprints.
• Learn to read a tape measure.
• Learn to operate overhead cranes.
• Learn health and safety procedures.
• Learn to be a team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment.
• Learn organizational skills and learn to be flexible in managing changing priorities.
• Learn communication skills–both written and oral.
• Learn analytical and problem-solving skills.
