Job summary

GHD is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Fire and Life Safety team. As a new graduate, you will support a wide range of projects, including code consulting, system design/evaluation, and fire modeling across the East Region and U.S.

You will contribute through building code consultations, developing contract documents for fire alarm and suppression systems, and coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, and authorities having jurisdiction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience in fire protection design or evaluation.
• Familiarity with NFPA standards and life-safety codes.
• Experience with fire modeling tools (FDS, CONTAM, Pathfinder, CFAST).

Responsibilities

• Performing building/fire code consultation.
• Developing contract documents for fire alarm, fire protection and fire suppression systems (including Special Suppression Systems).
• Designing and evaluating fire protection and life safety systems, including sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump, and special hazard systems.
• Coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction throughout project delivery.
• Conducting site investigations, construction phase services, commissioning, and acceptance testing of fire protection systems.
