Job summary

GHD is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join the Fire and Life Safety team in a hybrid role. You will support projects across the East Region and the U.S., performing code consulting, system design/evaluation, and fire modeling for diverse clients. Join us in-office three days a week to collaborate and grow.

The role requires a Fire Protection Engineering degree, 0–2 years of related experience, and familiarity with NFPA standards. AutoCAD/REVIT skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in the evaluation and/or design of Fire Protection Systems
• Familiarity with NFPA Standards, including Life Safety Code Requirements for both new construction and modifications to existing buildings
• Exposure to fire modeling (i.e. FDS, CONTAM, Pathfinder, CFAST, etc.)
• AutoCAD and/or REVIT design capability and experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performing building/fire code consultation
• Developing contract documents for fire alarm, fire protection and fire suppression systems (including Special Suppression Systems)
• Designing and evaluating fire protection and life safety systems, including sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump, and special hazard systems.
• Coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction throughout project delivery.
• Conducting site investigations, construction phase services, commissioning, and acceptance testing of fire protection systems.
