Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Fire and Life Safety team. As a new graduate, you will support a variety of projects across the East Region and the U.S., including code consulting, system design/evaluation, and fire modeling.

You will work in a hybrid environment, in-office three days a week, collaborating with a dynamic team to deliver compliant, safe life-safety solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in the evaluation and/or design of Fire Protection Systems.
• Familiarity with NFPA Standards, including Life Safety Code requirements.
• Exposure to fire modeling (e.g. FDS, CONTAM, Pathfinder, CFAST).
• AutoCAD and/or REVIT design capability and experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performing building/fire code consultation.
• Developing contract documents for fire alarm, fire protection and fire suppression systems.
• Designing and evaluating fire protection and life safety systems (sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump, special hazard).
• Coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Conducting site investigations, construction-phase services, commissioning, and acceptance testing.
