Job summary

GHD is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Fire and Life Safety team in a hybrid U.S. role.

You will support a diverse range of projects across the East Region and the United States, focusing on code consulting, system design/evaluation, and fire modeling as a new graduate. You’ll collaborate with clients, architects and engineers to design and evaluate fire protection and life safety systems, including sprinklers and special systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience in the evaluation or design of fire protection systems.
• Familiarity with NFPA standards and Life Safety Code requirements for new or modified buildings.
• Exposure to fire modeling tools (FDS, CONTAM, Pathfinder, CFAST).
• AutoCAD and/or REVIT design capability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performing building/fire code consultation.
• Developing contract documents for fire alarm, fire protection and fire suppression systems (including Special Suppression Systems).
• Designing and evaluating fire protection and life safety systems (sprinklers, standpipes, fire pump, special hazards).
• Coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Conducting site investigations, construction-phase services, commissioning and acceptance testing.
