Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an entry‑level Financial Analyst to support project accounting and finance activities for large-scale projects. You will assist with cost control, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and human capital management, contributing to month-end close and financial reporting for project management.

Based in Houston, this role requires strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work across cost components like labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracts.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of financial/data analysis experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, and/or equivalent degree
• Must be legally authorized to work without requiring sponsorship for employment
• Ability to travel and relocate as required
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Experience with Pivot Tables and V-Lookups is preferred
• Effective communication, organization and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail with ability to identify discrepancies
• Willingness to learn and contribute to continuous improvement
• Must be able to access all parts of a construction site in varying environments
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Previous internship experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Recognizes the importance of being a team player by adapting to project needs
• Fosters relationships with the Operations team and learns about the work
• Understands payroll and HR workflow; masters systems used to hire, transfer, terminate, and pay employees
• Comprehends purchasing, invoicing, and internal controls for purchasing
• Understands accounts payable workflow and troubleshooting vendor issues
• Understands intercompany and client billing processes and timely billing documentation
• Ensures cost and cost adjustments are accurate to meet standards and accounting rules
• Reviews forecast and budget issues with cost reports to ensure proper recognition of cost and revenue
• Supports month-end close and assists in preparing financial reporting packages
