Job summary

Virginia Department of Social Services seeks a Family Services Specialist I to begin a structured training program across Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care/ Adoption, Child Care, and Employment Services. Under close supervision, you perform routine- to journey-level casework while training toward full performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a Bachelor's degree with two years of related experience.
• Possession of a BSW or MSW is desirable.
• Virginia Social Worker licensure is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Interprets laws, policies and regulations as applied to specific area of responsibility.
• Monitors, coordinates and administers specific programs as assigned.
• Coordinates services within specific area of responsibility.
• Interviews and assesses customer needs and other relevant factors.
• Presents cases to determine appropriate services and writes/implements service plans.
• Provides case management services to monitor compliance.
