Zusammenfassung

The Virginia Department of Social Services is seeking an entry-level Family Services Specialist I who will be trained in Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care/Adoption, Child Care, and Employment Services. Work is supervised while you learn routines and program rules.

Upon completing the training and obtaining approvals, you will advance to Family Services Specialist II with greater responsibility and eligibility for a pay increase.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.
• Two years of related Human Services experience if degree is in any field.
• BSW or MSW desirable.

Aufgaben

• Interpret laws, policies and regulations as applied to the area of responsibility.
• Monitor, coordinate and administer programs as assigned.
• Coordinate services within the area of responsibility.
• Interview and assess customer needs and other relevant factors (education/skill levels, abilities, interests, and support systems).
• Inform clients of related service programs rules/regulations and their rights to participate.
• Present cases to determine appropriate services and write/implement service plans.
• Provide case management services to monitor compliance.
• Manage program waiting lists.
• Track expenditures and prepare budget estimates and payments for services.
• Complete required federal, state and local planning and reporting.
