Job summary
Virginia Department of Social Services is seeking a Family Services Specialist I to work under close supervision and receive training across Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care/Adoption, Child Care, and Employment Services. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services or equivalent with related experience as mandated.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Experience or training in social services programs preferred.
Responsibilities
- Interpret laws, policies and regulations applicable to assigned area.
- Coordinate and monitor specific programs as assigned.
- Interview and assess client needs and develop service plans.
- Provide case management and monitor compliance with service plans.
- Manage waiting lists, budgets and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with other agencies and participate in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Provide after-hours on-call coverage and respond to emergencies.
