Job summary

Slayden Constructors Inc. in Salem, Oregon, is seeking an Entry-Level General Estimator to support cost estimating for water and infrastructure projects ranging from $1 million to $100 million.

You'll review specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, and help prepare labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor estimates while coordinating with Engineering, Procurement, and Operations. This role offers growth within a collaborative team and exposure to multiple delivery methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 0–2 years in construction, estimating, or related field.
• Basic knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, drawings, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review solicitation documents to understand scope, risks, and opportunities.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with labor, material, equipment, and indirect cost estimates.
• Support the preparation of estimates for proposals, projects, and studies with accurate portions.
• Coordinate estimating information with Engineering, Procurement, and Operations.
• Assist senior estimators in preparing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed estimates.
• Review completed estimates and verify labor hours, materials, and subcontractor costs.
• Develop pricing structures and apply labor rates, unit costs, and productivity assumptions.
• Obtain and verify quotations from subcontractors and suppliers for bids and changes.
• Communicate with subcontractors regarding questions and scope requirements.
• Prepare estimate summaries and supporting documentation for internal review.
• Participate in constructability reviews and identify project risks and cost-saving opportunities.
• Research and develop relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Incorporate historical data from PO and productivity reports to improve accuracy.
• Maintain organized estimating files per company procedures.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to evaluate conditions and support estimates.
