Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. in Texas is seeking an Estimator to join our Preconstruction team.

The Estimator will participate in all aspects of the bid/estimating process, including review of plans and specs, pricing with subs, quantity take-off, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners. This role emphasizes accurate take-offs, competitive bids, and coordination with subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related major.
• Basic knowledge of estimating technology and tools (OST, BIM, Assemble, Revit, Bluebeam).
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Demonstrate behaviors aligned with McCarthy core values (We Live Our Core Values, We Are Employee Owned, We Feel Like a Family, We Are Builders).
• Strong math and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• General knowledge of construction principles and negotiated/hard bids and GMP processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Estimating Support for Projects: quantity take-offs, pricing and bidding, clarifications with architects/consultants.
• Subcontractor Analysis for Bids: coordinate with subs, prepare subcontracts scope exhibits, evaluate bids.
• Industry Knowledge/Relationships: build relationships with subcontractors and represent McCarthy at events.
