Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a skilled Estimator to participate in the bid/estimating process, from plan review to subcontractor pricing and bid closeout.

You will perform quantity take-offs, pricing, scoping, and bidding for construction projects, with flexibility to base in Los Angeles or San Diego. This role emphasizes accuracy, strong math and communication, and building relationships with subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related major.
• Internship experience in construction estimating preferred.
• Knowledge of drawings and specifications; reading ability.
• Familiarity with estimating tech like OST/MC2/QTO and BIM tools.
• Strong math, detail orientation, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs quantity take-offs and assists in pricing and bidding.
• Communicates scope, materials, and schedule clarifications with architects.
• Participates in bid reviews and value opportunity pricing.
• Prepares bid materials and organizes information for owner presentation.
• Helps with subcontractor coordination and procurement processes.
• Maintains relationships with subs to gain competitive advantage.
• Supports safety programs and company policies.
