Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking an Estimator to participate in all aspects of bid/estimating, from plans/spec reviews to subcontractor pricing and bid finalization. You will perform quantity take-offs, prepare estimates, and coordinate with architects and suppliers to define scope and schedule.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Construction Management or related field, familiarity with OST/MC2/QTO and BIM, and strong math/communication skills. Southern California locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related major.
• Construction estimating internship experience preferred.
• General knowledge of construction principles and processes.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• General knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, and GMP processes.
• Working knowledge of estimating technology and tools such as OST, MC2, QTO and BIM related software.
• Strong math and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrates behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values.
• Maintains a “value added” approach to estimating.

Responsibilities

• Performs quantity take-offs.
• Assists in the pricing and bidding of construction projects.
• Communicates with architects and consultants to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements, and documents these clarifications.
• Conducts reviews of milestone documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities.
• Actively participates in the internal estimate review process.
• Assists with final assembly of estimate for presentation to owner.
