Job summary

HDR is seeking an Estimator I to develop and present scope and cost data for construction projects across multiple technical disciplines. You’ll work with design and field staff to refine estimates, ensure accuracy, and support proposals with detailed data analysis and cost controls.

The role requires a Civil Engineering/Construction background, strong communication skills, and familiarity with cost estimating software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Construction Science Engineering or equivalent experience
• Fundamental knowledge of General Contracting, EPC construction methods, processes, and procedures, in addition to general construction industry methods
• Familiar with Microsoft Office, cost estimating and project control software
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
• Sponsorship (visa) for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, compile, and present scope and cost data for construction and project estimates
• Work on estimates that may be order of magnitude for planning purposes, preliminary for evaluation/study purposes, or definitive for proposal or proposal comparison purposes
• Demonstrate understanding and ability to interrupt construction plans and specifications with respect to preparing cost estimates
• Take responsibility for completeness and accuracy of estimates within defined parameters
• Work on estimates that may reflect any part or total project, or changes to the project
• Coordinate with design and construction staff to obtain estimate scope and schedule data upon which to base estimates
• Perform other duties as needed
