Job summary

Ferreira Construction Co., Inc. is seeking a collaborative Junior Estimator to join our growing team in the Transportation Group. You will perform quantity take-offs, pricing, and bid development while visiting project sites to understand conditions and requirements.

The ideal candidate should have an Associate degree or equivalent, strong math and communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office. You will work with senior staff to ensure compliant, accurate bids and timely submissions.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Strong math skills with thorough understanding of geometry.
• Ability to interpret and read plans.
• Ability to communicate technical information in writing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity take-offs, pricing, scoping and bidding under guidance of Senior Estimator and team.
• Visit project sites to understand site conditions.
• Understand project specifications and bidding requirements.
• Prepare and manage clarification correspondence with clients.
• Develop relationships with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Identify constructability issues and value-engineering opportunities.
• Assess site risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Prepare detailed bid packages for review and submission to clients.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely estimates.
• Present estimates and participate in bid reviews with Estimating Team and senior management.
• Ensure MBEs/DBEs/SWAM compliance in bid process and appropriate subcontractor solicitation.
• Review estimates with project managers and superintendents.
• Develop tracking of historical data for future use.
