Job summary

City of Mesa is seeking an Equipment Repair Assistant to perform routine tasks in repairing and maintaining automotive equipment. You will assist mechanics and other skilled workers in servicing light- and heavy-duty vehicles and keep the shop area clean and organized.

This entry-level role offers on-the-job training, with supervision increasing over time. A valid Arizona Class D license, basic hand tools, and willingness to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends, are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of full-time experience servicing and repairing motorized equipment.
• Must provide own basic hand tools and rollaway box within one year of hire.
• Must possess a valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by hire date.
• Pre-employment substance abuse testing required.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanics and skilled workers in maintenance and repair of automotive equipment.
• Perform cleaning and light maintenance in the shop.
• Help with scheduled preventative maintenance when workload permits.
• Work under supervision: progress from close to general supervision.
