Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking an entry-level Environmental Planner/Scientist to join the Mechanicsburg, PA office. You will support the Environmental team and assist senior scientists and engineers in environmental design and compliance tasks.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Biology, Environmental Science, or Environmental Planning, demonstrates strong written and oral communication, and is eager to learn while working in dynamic outdoor settings and with ESRI ArcGIS software.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning or similar field
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage time accordingly
• Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
• Willingness to take on new challenges and learn more while working on these challenges
• Willingness to work in challenging outdoor environments, including high temperatures and steep terrain
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Experience working with ESRI ArcGIS software preferred

Responsibilities

• State and federal environmental documentation (including NEPA preparation)
• Socioeconomic analysis (including environmental justice)
• Wetland delineations
• Stream assessments
• Threatened and endangered species habitat evaluations and surveys
• Periodic travel (including overnight) may be required when assisting with field work, as needed.
• Assist in conducting environmental site investigations, assessments, and surveys to sample, evaluate and analyze terrestrial ecosystems including, but not limited to, riverine, wetland, and upland landscapes.
