Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Mechanicsburg, PA is seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist to join the Environmental team. You will support Senior Project Environmental Scientists and Engineers in environmental design and compliance tasks.

Responsibilities include NEPA documentation, wetland delineations, stream assessments, and field surveys. A BS in Biology or Environmental Science is required, with strong communication and willingness to work outdoors.

We are currently seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist to work with the Environmental team in our Mechanicsburg, PA office. The primary duties will be to support Senior Project Environmental Scientists and Engineers in a variety of tasks in the field of environmental design and compliance.

Responsibilities:
  • State and federal environmental documentation (including NEPA preparation)
  • Socioeconomic analysis (including environmental justice)
  • Wetland delineations
  • Environmental Compliance
  • Stream assessments
  • Threatened and endangered species habitat evaluations and surveys
  • Clean Water Act Section 404/401 permitting
  • Periodic travel (including overnight) may be required when assisting with field work, as needed.
  • Assist in conducting environmental site investigations, assessments, and surveys to sample, evaluate and analyze terrestrial ecosystems including, but not limited to, riverine, wetland, and upland landscapes.
Requirements:
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning or similar field
  • Effective written and oral communication skills

Physical Requirements (Essential Functions):

This position requires the ability to perform a variety of physical tasks in the field as part of the essential job functions. Duties may include:

  • Walking and navigating across rough or uneven terrain such as mud, rocks, grass, dirt, steep hillsides, stream banks, heavily wooded areas, and other unpaved surfaces
  • Performing physical activities such as bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing

The work environment may include exposure to a range of environmental conditions, including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and other outdoor elements.

The expected compensation range for this position is $70,000.00 - $125,000.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
