Job summary

Upcoresolutions is seeking a motivated Junior Electrical Engineer (EIT) to join our MEP team in Austin. This early-career position offers hands-on experience in electrical building systems design, under the guidance of licensed Professional Engineers, across commercial, institutional, educational, municipal, and healthcare projects.

The role supports electrical design, calculations, construction documents, field observations, and cross-disciplinary coordination, with a clear path toward Texas

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year university.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required, or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• 2-3 years of electrical engineering experience preferred.
• Internship, co-op, or prior experience in consulting engineering, MEP design, or building systems is preferred.
• Basic familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Working knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and building systems design principles.
• Understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with electrical system design for power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, and low‑voltage systems.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses under the supervision of licensed engineers.
• Prepare electrical plans, load calculations, panel schedules, and specifications for construction documents.
• Support the development of cost estimates and design alternatives.
• Assist with code research and application of local, state, and national electrical codes and standards.
• Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, plumbing, structural, and architectural disciplines.
• Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and other engineering software to prepare and modify project documents.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs during construction.
• Participate in field visits, site investigations, and construction observations.
• Document field conditions and assist with preparing observation reports.
• Support Project Managers and Senior Engineers in delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
• Assist with project document organization and quality control reviews.
• Participate in project meetings with internal teams, clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Track assigned tasks and communicate project progress effectively.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure design coordination.
• Contribute to maintaining project documentation and records.
• Work toward obtaining a Texas Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Develop knowledge of engineering standards, building systems, and industry best practices.
• Participate in internal training, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
• Stay current with applicable codes, technologies, and engineering tools.
