Job summary

The Boys' Club of New York Inc. is seeking a Junior Director to lead BCNY’s youth development program for boys aged 10-12. You will oversee an annual program budget, hire and supervise frontline staff and volunteers, and partner with the Assistant Clubhouse Director to deliver evidence-based curricula and engaging activities.

You'll build strong relationships with families, coordinate with other departments, and maintain high program standards while supporting safety and positive youth outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; and/or combination of five years' of relevant work experience with youth
• Demonstrated skills in program planning and facilitation for youth
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with economically and educationally disadvantaged youth in urban settings
• Strong team player
• Willingness to work a flexible and demanding schedule
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and some database tools; willingness to learn more software

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of age-specific programs and activities for boys ages 10-12, including life skills, recreation, character development, and healthy living
• Plan and conduct creative activities that provide members decision-making and leadership opportunities
• Organize and maintain the junior room program area to foster safety and meet member needs
• Oversee staffing and management of part-time staff and volunteers, including hiring and coaching
• Manage staff schedules and provide coverage as needed
• Lead professional development, staff meetings, and trainings
• Ensure staff adhere to behavior, discipline and safety policies
• Collaborate with the Assistant Clubhouse Director to organize events and monitor engagement
• Participate in all Clubhouse events and meetings
• Build strong relationships with members and families to meet individual needs
