Job summary

Theuniversityunion is seeking a controls engineer in Rockford, MI to drive automation projects for packaging systems. You will define objectives, manage hardware life cycles, and collaborate with hardware engineers and validation teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Ideal candidates have up to 4 years of controls software experience, knowledge of palletizing concepts, and skills in Allen Bradley PLCs, HMI, drives, and servos.

Qualifications

• 0-4 years of experience in controls software development.
• Some knowledge of palletizing concepts and automation.
• Skills in programming Allen Bradley PLCs, HMI, Drives, and Servos.
• Understanding of industrial automation technologies, including PLCs, SCADA, HMI, and Robotics.
• (Allen Bradley, Fanuc, and Kuka preferred).

Responsibilities

• Define project objectives, scope, and technical requirements in collaboration with project managers and clients, ensuring high-quality deliverables within project timelines.
• Plan, and oversee the hardware development life cycle, ensuring high-quality deliverables within project timelines with some guidance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, Controls technicians, Panel Build, and Advanced Validation Teams, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Program complex controls software systems, considering uptime, reliability, performance, and maintainability with some guidance.
• Develop and maintain software design documentation, ensuring compliance with department standards and best practices.
• Responsible for onsite commissioning ensuring operational efficiency of packaging systems and machinery programs meet customers operational requirements.
• Provide guidance for controls technicians.
• Other duties as assigned by Controls Manager
