Job summary

S&ME in Wilmington, NC seeks an entry-level Construction Materials Professional to support the Construction Services team. You will test materials, analyze plans, document field activities, and prepare reports for projects, while communicating progress to stakeholders.

The role requires a Civil/Geotechnical engineering background, 0–2 years of experience, and a willingness to obtain industry certification within 6 months. Office is in Wilmington with potential travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a similar field.
• 0-2 years in construction materials testing/inspecting soil, concrete, masonry, or asphalt.
• Willingness to obtain industry certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Test construction materials (soil, concrete, asphalt) to meet project specs and standards.
• Analyze construction plans and specifications for alignment with project goals.
• Record and manage field activities using Metafield or similar systems.
• Prepare reports and proposals for smaller projects with thorough assessments.
• Communicate with management, contractors, and clients to provide project updates.
