Job summary

S&ME, a leading geotechnical, civil, environmental and construction materials firm, seeks an entry-level Construction Materials Engineer for our Augusta, Georgia team. Under a Licensed Engineer, you will manage field investigations, log soil samples, perform calculations and assist in proposals and reports, supporting projects and clients.

You will test materials (soil, concrete, asphalt), analyze plans, document field activities, and draft reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Ability to obtain at least one industry certification within 6 months.
• Strong math, reading, and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Test construction materials (soil, concrete, asphalt) to verify project specs.
• Analyze construction plans and specifications for alignment with goals.
• Record and manage field activities using Metafield or similar systems.
• Prepare reports and proposals for smaller projects with accurate documentation.
• Communicate progress daily with management, contractors and clients.
