Job summary

CALTEC Corp. in California seeks a detail-oriented Estimator to gather data, analyze information, and estimate costs for construction projects including public works and tenant improvements. The role requires strong analytical skills and accuracy in cost estimation.

The estimator will review drawings, evaluate bids, and collaborate with project managers to develop budgets and schedules, while supporting business development and vendor relations throughout Southern California.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; a bachelor's in a related field preferred.
• For entry-level, coursework or internships in cost estimation preferred.
• For experienced applicants, at least three years of verifiable cost estimation experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in pre-bid meetings to understand client needs and site conditions.
• Estimate costs for multiple projects, coordinating with project managers.
• Evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers for competitive pricing.
• Negotiate terms to optimize job costs and margins.
• Solicit and vet subcontractors and suppliers; manage RFI's during bidding.
• Interpret addenda and adjust estimates accordingly.
• Analyze drawings and specifications to determine labor, material, and time requirements.
• Maintain an organized repository of bid documentation and price lists.
