Job summary

Whiting-Turner Contracting Company seeks an Entry-Level Engineer to support a range of construction projects in Newark, DE. You will report to a Project Manager or Superintendent and assist with diverse project tasks from planning to field execution.

You will coordinate with owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors and subcontractors, help manage budgets and schedules, and resolve design issues and field changes. Training on scheduling tools will be provided.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety regulations, ANSI standards, local and state building codes.
• Understanding of general construction processes and site practices.
• Proficiency with scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, SureTrak, Primavera.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work with owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, and site subcontractors and direct the work of trades.
• Manage estimating and bidding processes and track costs to manage the project budget.
• Resolve and clarify design issues.
• Identify and resolve field issues and change orders.
• Write contracts and purchase orders documenting work, schedules, costs, changes and specifications.
• Participate in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns.
• Ensure work meets quality standards and contract specifications.
• Implement project schedules for each task and phase.
• Document technical, financial and personnel aspects of each project.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals and change orders.
• Review each trade’s progress across project phases.
• Provide field support to superintendents to ensure contract compliance and site maintenance.
• Track phase completion against milestones.
• Set expectations for managing a safe work site.
• Document each phase of the project.
