Job summary

Whitman, Requardt and Associates, LLP is seeking an entry-level Construction Engineer to support Responsible Charge Engineers in managing and inspecting government construction projects across Virginia. The role involves applying engineering principles to design, procure, deliver, and close-out projects under licensed engineer supervision.

The position requires pursuing a civil/construction engineering degree, strong communication skills, and willingness to work nights and overtime.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Prior construction engineering/inspection/testing experience preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication across organization levels.
• Must be willing to work nights/overtime as required by projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in construction management and inspection on projects; provide inspection services.
• Handle contract management and administration tasks.
• Evaluate and negotiate change orders with stakeholders.
• Maintain project records, materials certification, and documentation.
• Support scheduling, cost estimating, budgeting, and risk management; assist with project close-out.
