Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector I to perform initial inspection of protective coatings under supervision of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. You will verify surface prep per SSPC/NACE, record ambient conditions, and document film thickness on tanks, structural steel, pipe and concrete.

Responsibilities include measuring conditions, confirming surface prep, and maintaining logs with photographs of each stage. A current CIP Level 1 and 1+ years in coatings work are required.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around tanks, structures, blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.

Responsibilities

• Measure ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against datasheets.
• Keep daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
