Job summary

Westmag, a leading American manufacturer in South San Francisco, is seeking a Junior CNC Machinist to set up, run, and inspect precision components for drone motors and robot actuators. You will work with experienced machinists and engineers, operating CNC mills and lathes, holding tight tolerances and contributing to on-time production.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of industry experience, demonstrates proficiency with G-code/M-code and GD&T, and is authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years of CNC machinist/operator experience in production or precision environment.
• Experience setting up and running CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of G-code and M-code, tool offsets, and work offsets.
• Strong math skills and ability to maintain tight tolerances.
• Reliable attendance and ability to stand for extended periods; lift up to 50 lbs.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce parts per print.
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T callouts, work instructions, and setup sheets.
• Load programs, set tools/work offsets, and perform first-article inspections.
• Make offset and minor program adjustments to maintain dimensions and finish.
• Conduct in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges and other tools.
• Monitor tool wear and adjust tooling as needed; troubleshoot basic issues.
• Record production and inspection data accurately.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work areas clean.
• Collaborate with engineering/quality to improve processes, cycle times and yield.
• Follow safety, quality and production standards.
