Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineering Technician to help with data collection, site assessments, and documentation for infrastructure projects. You will support research, design concepts, and construction activities across roads, bridges, and utilities under supervision.

The role emphasizes analytical thinking, precise reporting, and adherence to safety standards. Travel may be required; a 0–1 year background in engineering is anticipated.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
  • Familiarity with design/build.
  • Familiarity with civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with policies.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, assist with data collection and analysis from sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, and related sources.
  • Assist with basic professional civil engineering work related to site conditions and conformity with rules and permits.
  • Perform routine engineering functions and provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and safety considerations.
  • Assist with validating site characteristics and providing technical input on engineering, design, and construction issues.
  • Generate documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field logs.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site procedures.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to company Code of Conduct and policies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.
