Job summary

Stantec in the Western United States is seeking a Junior Civil Engineer to support smaller projects under close supervision. You will assist with design using AutoCAD and Bentley, perform field work, and help prepare engineering reports.

You will collaborate with senior engineers across multiple disciplines on projects in Sierra Nevada remote settings and larger metropolitan areas. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with EIT and 0-3 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering and EIT.
• 0-3 years of experience.
• Understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas.
• Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and building programs.
• Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Performs civil engineering design using knowledge of relevant software programs (AutoCAD, Bentley).
• Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals under the direction of a senior engineer/designer.
• Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
• Performs engineering calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
• Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
• Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.
• You will assist in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
• You will develop portions of larger engineering reports or small engineering reports.
• You may use hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software and perform calculations.
• You may perform a variety of tasks which may include analyzing proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, resource efficiency and cost effectiveness.
