Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Junior Buyer for our client in Welkom, Free State. This entry-level role supports senior buyers in sourcing, ordering, and inventory management for industrial products, with hands-on exposure to procurement processes and supplier relations.

The ideal candidate has a relevant qualification in supply chain or business administration and up to 2 years of related experience, strong Excel skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or similar.
• Zero to two years of experience in purchasing, administration, or inventory roles.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior buyers in sourcing suppliers and obtaining quotations.
• Process purchase orders under the guidance of the purchasing manager.
• Track orders and ensure timely delivery, communicating delays.
• Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information.
• Assist in managing inventory levels to prevent stockouts and excess stock.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, and inquiries.
• Support reporting on purchasing activities and supplier performance.
• Conduct basic market research on product availability and pricing trends.
• Assist in administrative tasks within the purchasing department.
• Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
