Job summary

RK&K in the Pittsburgh region is seeking an entry-level Structural/Bridge Engineer to design bridges and transportation structures from concept to construction plans on a variety of projects and clients.

The role focuses on hands-on design in steel and concrete, support for inspections, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. A Bachelor's in Civil/Structural Engineering and EIT (FE passed) or ability to obtain within six months are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Coursework in structural analysis, steel design and concrete design.
0+ years experience within civil engineering, emphasis on structural.
Registration as an EIT (FE passed) or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
Experience with MicroStation, Leap Bridge Concrete, AASHTOWare BrR, OpenBridge Designer, PennDOT software, and other structural programs.
Effective, professional oral and written communication.
Willingness to assist with bridge inspections in PA and other jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

Design structural components of bridges, box culverts, retaining walls and related structures in steel, reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete.
Assist with plan and bridge model development
Assist with in-service bridge inspections and drafting inspection reports
Assist with various other transportation design tasks, environmental tasks, or hydraulic modelling
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team across RK&K’s portfolio
