Job summary

HTU in Baltimore, MD, is seeking a Civil Engineer to assist with structural analysis and design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and overhead sign structures on highway and railroad projects.

You will work on multi-disciplinary projects for agencies in the Mid-Atlantic, perform NBIS bridge inspections in Maryland and surrounding states, and produce high-quality technical writing for inspection reports and related studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
• FE/EIT certification required.
• Experience with Microstation or AutoCAD.
• Bridge inspection experience and technical report writing preferred.
• Exposure to structural analysis software such as STAAD, LEAP Bridge, LEAP Concrete, AASHTOWare, BrR, BRASS, SAP/CSI is a plus.
• Familiarity with modeling tools, especially BrIM or BIM processes, and GIS experience is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to work on multiple projects in a challenging environment.
• Self-motivated with effective multitasking and willingness to learn and improve work products.
• Willingness to engage with the engineering community through professional societies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with structural analysis and design of bridges (highway and railroad), culverts, retaining walls, and overhead sign structures on various projects including bridge replacement, rehabilitation, and highway improvement.
• Work on multi-disciplinary projects for agencies such as MDSHA, MDTA, DDOT, DelDOT, PennDOT, VDOT, and other bridge owners in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
• Perform NBIS bridge inspections in Maryland and surrounding states, with occasional domestic travel.
• Produce high-quality technical writing for bridge inspection reports, specifications, studies, and other engineering documents.
• Complete additional tasks as assigned.
