Job summary

System One is seeking a Junior AWS Production Support Engineer to join our team across multiple US locations, including Lafayette, LA, Knoxville, TN, Columbia, SC, and Birmingham, AL. You will provide Level 1/2 support for AWS-hosted applications, monitor systems, investigate incidents, and assist with releases.

The role requires hands-on AWS, Python scripting, SQL, Linux basics, and familiarity with CI/CD; certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands on AWS experience and comfort with the AWS Management Console.
• AWS Associate level certification; current knowledge preferred.
• Python scripting to automate tasks and basic operational workflows.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Production/support experience including troubleshooting and incident analysis.
• Basic Linux command line troubleshooting and familiarity with monitoring.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Ability to investigate alerts, failed jobs, deployments, and AWS issues.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with clear communication and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 production support for AWS hosted apps.
• Monitor applications, respond to alerts, incidents, and failed jobs.
• Use AWS Console, CloudWatch, Splunk, and Linux logs to investigate issues.
• Perform initial troubleshooting and escalate complex problems.
• Use SQL for queries, batch processes, and operational troubleshooting.

• Assist with releases and investigate failures in CI/CD pipelines.
• Document investigation results and maintain incident records.
• Manage incident, problem, and change records in ServiceNow and Jira.
• Contribute to on-call coverage and support planned releases and after-hours incidents.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 production support for AWS hosted applications.
• Monitor applications and respond to alerts, incidents, failed jobs, and operational issues.
• Use the AWS console, CloudWatch, Splunk, and Linux logs to investigate production issues.
• Perform initial troubleshooting and elevate complex issues to engineering or Level 3 support teams.
• Use SQL to support queries, database activities, batch processes, and operational troubleshooting.
• Develop Python scripts to automate repetitive production support activities.
• Assist with application releases and investigate failures within GitLab or comparable CI/CD pipelines.
• Identify recurring operational issues and recommend automation or process improvements.
• Document investigation results and maintain clear incident and support records.
• Manage incident, problem, and change records using ServiceNow and Jira.
• Learn application specific procedures, dashboards, dependencies, and escalation paths.
• Participate in production on call coverage and support planned releases and after hours incidents as needed.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands on AWS experience and confidence navigating the AWS Management Console.
• AWS Associate level certification; an expired Associate certification may be considered if current AWS knowledge can be demonstrated.
• Python scripting experience with the ability to automate basic operational tasks.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Production/application support experience, including troubleshooting, incident investigation, and log analysis.
• Basic knowledge of Linux environments and command line troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with application monitoring, alerts, logs, and production support processes.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and application release processes.
• Ability to investigate application alerts, failed jobs or transactions, deployment failures, and AWS service issues.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the judgment to resolve routine issues or elevate appropriately.
• Clear communication, accountability, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a production environment.

Desired Skillset

Splunk, Amazon CloudWatch, ServiceNow, Jira, GitLab, Terraform, and experience supporting Bloomberg, Tradeweb, or other financial market applications.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
