Job summary

System One is seeking a Junior AWS Production Support Engineer to provide Level 1–2 support for AWS hosted applications across Knoxville, TN, Columbia SC, Lafayette, LA, and Birmingham, AL. You will monitor, investigate, and resolve incidents using CloudWatch, Splunk, Linux logs, and SQL.

The role requires 2+ years of AWS experience, an AWS Associate cert, Python scripting skills, and a solid foundation in SQL and Linux. Collaboration with on-call teams and CI/CD release support are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on AWS experience using the AWS Management Console.
• AWS Associate level certification (current preferred).
• Python scripting to automate operational tasks.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Production support experience including troubleshooting and log analysis.
• Basic Linux command line knowledge.
• Familiarity with monitoring, alerts and production support processes.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Ability to investigate alerts, failed jobs, deployments, and AWS service issues.
• Strong problem solving and communication in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 production support for AWS hosted applications.

• Assist with releases and investigate failures in CI/CD pipelines like GitLab.
• Identify recurring issues and suggest automation or process improvements.
• Document investigation results and maintain incident records in ServiceNow/Jira.
• Participate in on-call coverage and after-hours incidents as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 production support for AWS hosted applications.
• Monitor applications and respond to alerts, incidents, failed jobs, and operational issues.
• Use the AWS console, CloudWatch, Splunk, and Linux logs to investigate production issues.
• Perform initial troubleshooting and escalated complex issues to engineering or Level 3 support teams.
• Use SQL to support queries, database activities, batch processes, and operational troubleshooting.
• Develop Python scripts to automate repetitive production support activities.
• Assist with application releases and investigate failures within GitLab or comparable CI/CD pipelines.
• Identify recurring operational issues and recommend automation or process improvements.
• Document investigation results and maintain clear incident and support records.
• Manage incident, problem, and change records using ServiceNow and Jira.
• Learn application specific procedures, dashboards, dependencies, and escalation paths.
• Participate in production on call coverage and support planned releases and after hours incidents as needed.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands on AWS experience and confidence navigating the AWS Management Console.
• AWS Associate level certification; an expired Associate certification may be considered if current AWS knowledge can be demonstrated.
• Python scripting experience with the ability to automate basic operational tasks.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Production/application support experience, including troubleshooting, incident investigation, and log analysis.
• Basic knowledge of Linux environments and command line troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with application monitoring, alerts, logs, and production support processes.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and application release processes.
• Ability to investigate application alerts, failed jobs or transactions, deployment failures, and AWS service issues.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the judgment to resolve routine issues or escalated appropriately.
• Clear communication, accountability, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a production environment.

Desired Skillset

Splunk, Amazon CloudWatch, ServiceNow, Jira, GitLab, Terraform, and experience supporting Bloomberg, Tradeweb, or other financial market applications.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
